Climate Tracker Asia's Content Creators Hub

Climate Tracker Asia’s flagship program equipping young digital storytellers to transform complex climate issues into relatable, human stories that move people and policies across Southeast Asia.

Since 2022, the Content Creators Hub has been Climate Tracker Asia’s answer to one of the biggest gaps in climate communication: giving young creators the skills, mentorship and networks to make their stories resonate. Born out of our partnership with Oxfam’s Stories 4 Change Project, the Hub now spans three cycles, dozens of multimedia stories, and a cross-border alumni community of creators who are reframing climate narratives and building audiences at scale.

The climate crisis demands new approaches to communication. Traditional media often struggles to reach younger audiences, while social media content frequently lacks scientific rigor. Our program bridges this gap by training passionate storytellers who combine journalistic integrity with digital innovation, creating content that both educates and engages.

The Hub blends evidence-based reporting with multimedia creativity and community-centered storytelling. Through online masterclasses, in-person bootcamps, intensive mentoring, and public festivals, we create a space where passion meets craft and where stories become catalysts for change.

Our approach rests on three foundational pillars:

Evidence & Skills

Grounding creators in climate science, multimedia production and digital safety.

We ensure our fellows understand the science behind the stories they tell, while equipping them with professional-grade technical skills.

Creativity & Culture

Encouraging fellows to use art, local languages and personal stories to make climate relatable.

We believe authentic voices from affected communities are essential for meaningful climate communication.

Community & Impact

Fostering cross-country collaboration and alumni networks to sustain action beyond the fellowship.

Our graduates become mentors, collaborators, and advocates who continue amplifying climate stories across Southeast Asia.

Impact

The Content Creators Hub transforms passionate storytellers into professional climate communicators who build substantial audiences, win journalism awards, and create content that influences both public understanding and policy discussions across Southeast Asia.

FELLOWS

5

COUNTRIES

  • Dozens of multimedia stories produced across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and mainstream media
  • Tens of thousands of viewers reached regionally and globally through fellow-created content
  • Cross-border collaborations showcased at Stories for Change festival and Tales of Connection celebration

Programmatic Impact

Fellows demonstrated substantial improvement in climate communication, multimedia production and digital storytelling —applying these skills immediately in their published outputs and professional opportunities.

We challenged fellows to produce vertical videos, TikToks and content in their own languages to deepen engagement with local audiences while maintaining scientific accuracy.

The Hub has grown into a supportive cross-border network. Alumni continue to exchange feedback, share opportunities and mentor new cohorts, creating sustainable knowledge transfer.

All participants were empowered to take leadership in producing and telling their stories — not just executing assignments — resulting in authentic, original narratives with measurable impact.

Collaborations with institutions like the Manila Observatory enriched fellows’ learning, provided real-world scientific insights, and inspired new story angles that connect research with public understanding.

The Fellowship Journey

Each cycle follows a structured progression that blends rigor, experimentation, and community-building

Phase 1: Outreach & Selection

Fellows from diverse backgrounds — journalists, artists, scientists, youth activists — are chosen for their potential to reshape climate narratives. Our selection process prioritizes storytelling ability and passion for climate advocacy over existing technical skills.

Phase 2: Online Training Foundation

Core Curriculum Includes:

  • Science Journalism Fundamentals with experienced science communication professionals
  • Climate Storytelling Mastery with award-winning environmental journalists
  • Multimedia Production Skills with digital media specialists
  • Creative Expression & Advocacy with alumni who’ve pioneered innovative approaches
  • Security and Self-Care with veteran reporters covering environmental issues

Phase 3: Intensive Bootcamp Experience

A four-day immersive program featuring story development clinics, pitch sessions, and masterclasses on viral content creation, visual storytelling, and digital climate messaging. Fellows visit leading climate research institutions to observe science in action and conduct expert interviews that ground their work in credible research.

Phase 4: Production & Collaboration

Guided by experienced mentors, fellows produce both individual multimedia pieces and collaborative cross-border projects focusing on climate-vulnerable communities, local solutions, and underreported environmental issues. This phase balances personal skill development with regional partnership building.

Phase 5: Story Festival & Public Showcase

Public celebrations broadcast across social media platforms combine panel discussions, fellow story premieres, and interactive audience engagement. These events demonstrate program impact while creating opportunities for fellows to present their work to government officials, NGO leaders, and broader communities.
